John Bartam, God’s Gardener, A One-Man Show

Join us for an entertaining performance and learn about America’s first botanist, John Bartram (1699 – 1777) who Carl Linnaeus said was the “greatest natural botanist in the world.” He started what is known as Bartram’s Garden in 1728 at his farm (now part of Philadelphia), it was the first botanic garden in the United States. Reenactor Kirk Brown brings this Quaker farmer who was good friends with Benjamin Franklin and named Royal Botanist of North America by King George III to life for the audience.
