Designing, Constructing and Planting the Entry Garden with Warren Leach
Our second meeting of 2025 will be held on Saturday, May 31 and will feature award-winning landscape designer, horticulturist, teacher, author and speaker Warren Leach. For more than 35 years, Leach has been creating beautiful landscapes throughout New England as well as designing captivating and educational display gardens at Tranquil Lake Nursery in Rehoboth. He is co-owner of this nursery which specializes in daylilies, iris and distinctive perennials and woody plants. Warren is also a renowned writer, with articles having been published in Fine Gardening, Horticulture, Green Scene, American Nurseryman and Boston magazines. His new book, Plants for the Winter Garden, was published last November.
Leach’s presentation will focus on Designing, Constructing and Planting the Entry Garden. The garden space between the street, driveway, walkway and your home offers a powerful first impression to visitors arriving at your door. Leach will take us on a visual tour of enticing entry gardens using before and after scenarios. He will address walkway design and construction techniques, solving problems of scale and grade as well as showcasing a rich planting palette that offers year-round beauty and low maintenance. And, he’ll include his recommendations for winter interest plants that will complement our “winter stick” hydrangeas!
